Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.
My son advised me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have have lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
