Person pleads guilty to sexual offenses targeting young males at youth camp
An individual who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two children who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including baby oil, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his family member notified the police about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"The police had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the situation.
The prosecutor explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities again.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
