Cyclone the storm is projected to strengthen into a rare highest-level cyclone as it turns toward Jamaica, bringing life-threatening sudden floods and rock falls.

The hurricane, which registered wind speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as of 6:00 AM GMT, is presently veering northwest in the Caribbean Sea and is projected to reach land by early next week, according to hurricane specialists.

Melissa is predicted to cross the island nation by the middle of the week before moving through the Antillas Mayores and out into the Atlantic Ocean.
