A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The song showcases a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
